Health Minister receives UN Humanitarian Coordinator

Minister of Public Health and Population Qasem Buhaibeh discussed Tuesday with UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen David Gressly current health situation and challenges facing it and exceptional situations in Southern Marib over Houthi militia's crimes and displacing people from different areas into Marib city.

He demanded coordination with the International Committee for The Red Cross and organization of Doctors without Borders to increase their interventions in surgery fields in Marib's hospitals, especially after Houthi militia's looted medical equipment from hospitals in the areas they held in southern Marib.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population Ali al-Walidi reviewed activities implemented by the ministry in field of vaccination against COVID-9 and problems created by Houthi militia to hinder carrying out vaccination campaigns, which led to rise of pandemic cases like polio, diphtheria and measles.

For his part, the UN official called for integrating efforts to provide health and humanitarian services to citizens, pointing out to necessity of calling for more vaccines and working on enhancing people confidence to take vaccines, pointing out to increase support soon in the future after having a support amounted to USD 12 million.
