Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdul-Malik stressed that Iranian interference and its control of decisions within the Houthi coup militia is the main obstacle to peace, and explains the level of escalation that Yemen has witnessed during the past two years.

In a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Finnish peace broker "Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation" in the temporary capital Aden today, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the international community's awareness of this role and pressure on the Iranian regime to stop interfering in Yemen's affairs, its destabilizing activities for the security and stability of the region and threatening international navigation.

Dr. Abdul-Malik pointed out that the Houthi militia, and behind it Iran, had refused to respond to all peace initiatives, and even refused to receive the UN envoy in Sana'a, and continued its terrorist practices and criminal acts targeting civilians, displaced persons, and civilian objects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia pointing out that the only path that will force the Houthi militia to return to peace is the military victories in the field and the real international pressure.

He urged research and peace support centers and institutions to discuss objectively what is happening in Yemen and to look at the roots of the crisis represented in the militia coup and Iranian support by force of arms against the legitimate authority and defying the will of the Yemeni people, the international community and binding international resolutions.

He noted that hasty and incomprehensible analysis of the situation in Yemen are limited to addressing the symptoms of the crisis, not its roots or the objective paths and conditions for resolving it.

The Prime Minister briefed the international delegation on the latest developments on the national arena in various political, military, security, economic and service aspects, and the government’s efforts to deal with them in proportion to the current exceptional circumstances, including implementing reforms, combating corruption and building state institutions. He refered to the ongoing steps to complete the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement and to ensure that all parties make it a success as it is in the supreme interest of the Yemenis.
