ADEN-SABA
The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Braik, convened in Aden to assess measures taken by government agencies to control prices and reduce them in line with the recent improvement in the exchange rate of the national currency.
The Cabinet reviewed detailed explanations from relevant ministries on their level of commitment to implementing government directives, including intensifying field monitoring campaigns on markets and pursuing violators.
The measures aim to curb monopolistic practices and price manipulation, part of a comprehensive economic policy to break the cycle of speculation and chaos exploited by the Houthi militia.
The Cabinet emphasized the need for continued strict monitoring of markets, adherence to legal procedures, and implementation of plans to secure basic needs for citizens.
The government also directed local authorities in Aden and liberated governorates to fulfill their responsibilities in monitoring and enforcing price control measures.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to partnership with the private sector while ensuring reasonable profit margins.
He stressed that the improvement in the exchange rate should translate into a real decrease in prices of goods and services, and the government will not tolerate any attempts to exploit the economic improvement for personal gain.
