A major new exhibition titled “The Splendour of Hellenistic Gold: The Ruler of Sakar” has opened at Bulgaria’s National Archaeology Museum in Sofia, bringing to light some of the most exquisite artifacts ever discovered in the country’s southeastern Sakar region.
The exhibition, inaugurated on August 12, features exceptional pieces of Hellenistic-era craftsmanship, including a gold-inlaid iron knife, an intricately designed gold bracelet adorned with cast figures and semi-precious stones, a gold necklace, a ring with an iron plate, a gold wreath, gilded.
Organized by the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM–BAS) in collaboration with the Municipality of Topolovgrad, the exhibition showcases treasures unearthed during an archaeological expedition in the village of Kapitan Petko Voyvoda.
