OCHA: Regional Escalation Directly Impacting Humanitarian Conditions in Gaza and the West Bank

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has warned that ongoing regional escalation is directly worsening the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the West Bank.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the UN office said the escalation has had an immediate impact on conditions in Gaza, with all crossings closed, including the Rafah Crossing.
OCHA said that UN staff rotations have been postponed, leading to the suspension of medical evacuations and the return of residents, despite continued efforts to maintain the flow of humanitarian supplies. It stressed that the continuation of a full blockade threatens to halt aid deliveries altogether.
The office also noted that fuel consumption is being rationed due to dwindling reserves, affecting the operations of bakeries, hospitals, and water desalination plants. Waste collection services have also been suspended.
According to the statement, residents in some areas of Gaza are receiving only two liters of drinking water per day, while prices of basic commodities have begun to rise amid the tightening restrictions.
