Educational, health projects inaugurated in Marib

Deputy Governor of Marib Abdullah al-Bakeri inaugurated Monday two educational and health projects with a total construction, furnishing, and equipment cost exceeding USD 500 thousand.

These projects were implemented by the Benevolence Coalition for Humanitarian Relief as part of the Institutional and Economic Resilience Enhancement project in Yemen (SIERY), funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Union.

Al-Bakeri, along with Saleh bin Hamad Jaradan, the Director General of the Valley District inaugurated a secondary school for girls in the Hadbaa area of al-Aushan.

The school consists of a two-story building with nine classrooms, a teacher's lounge, and administrative offices, accommodating up to 324 students. The total cost for construction, furnishing, and equipment was USD 320,000.

Additionally, the Deputy Governor and the Director General of the Valley District inaugurated the emergency department building at al-Shahid Mohammed al-Durra Hospital in the al-Juthwa area. This facility includes two operating rooms, a doctor's office, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and inpatient rooms for men and women with a capacity of ten beds, along with administrative offices and housing for doctors and nurses.
The total cost for construction, furnishing and equipment was USD 205,345.

Al-Bakeri emphasized the importance of these projects in enhancing the capabilities of the education and health offices in responding to the needs of displaced citizens and the host community in the targeted areas and surrounding regions, providing essential educational services for girls and health services for the community.

He stressed the importance of humanitarian partners focusing their interventions on sustainable projects that assist in recovery and development, addressing the immediate and long-term needs of citizens.

He praised the humanitarian partnership with the UN Development Programme and the Benevolence Coalition for Humanitarian Relief, highlighting their humanitarian interventions and the role of the SIERY project funded by the European Union, in strengthening the institutional and economic capacities of local authorities in the governorate and districts to respond to the basic and developmental needs of citizens, moving towards recovery and development through the implementation of various sustainable projects.

He expressed hope for more funding and projects that assist in recovery and help local authorities address the growing humanitarian needs.
