The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development signed today, Tuesday, a grant agreement with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the amount of 645 thousand Kuwaiti dinars (about $2.1 million) to support critical infrastructure for internally displaced persons and host communities in Aden Governorate.
The Director General of the Fund, Marwan Al-Ghanim, said in a press statement that the grant comes within the contributions of the Fund to fulfill the commitment of the State of Kuwait announced on the sidelines of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly to provide a grant of 6 million dinars (about 20 million dollars) to support the humanitarian situation in Yemen from resources available at the fund.
Al-Ghanim added that the proposed funding aims to implement various infrastructure projects in the (Al-Basateen) region of Aden Governorate to improve the living conditions of the region's population of about 70,000 people, who are a mixture of Yemenis, members of the host community, internally displaced Yemenis, and foreign refugees of various other nationalities.
