The Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, met with the UN delegation headed by Deputy Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and representatives of 12 United Nations organizations to discuss increasing support to meet the emergency and sustainable needs of the governorate.

In the meeting, Governor Shamsan gave the UN officials an account on the relief and sustainable needs and the damages resulting from the Houthi militia's war that targeted the infrastructure, water, electricity, schools and hospitals; the militia's closure of roads to tighten the siege on the city, the resulting difficulty in transportation and travel, the increase in costs and living burdens, all of which greatly exacerbated the suffering of the people of the governorate.

Governor Shamsan stressed the importance of working in two tracks, and most importantly the path of transition to developmental and sustainable interventions and home reconstructions as IDPs are returning to their houses, displaced, and the continuation of emergency and relief aid, food security, improving livelihoods, meeting the needs of the displaced, and preparing a comprehensive plan to repair damaged homes in order to serve the returnees according to the joint dealing mechanisms between the partners.
