[25/03/2021 06:31]

ADEN - SABA
The Republic of Yemen participated in launching the regional response plan for African Migrants in Yemen and the Horn of Africa for 2020-2021 organized by the International Organization for Migration on Thursday.

The plan aims at providing quick assistance to hundreds thousands of African migrants, who lost their ways across the eastern highway in the Horn of African countries and Yemen.

In the symposium held through videoconferencing technology, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Expatriates Affairs Mohammad al-Udail reviewed the role of the government of Yemen and Yemeni people in receiving illegal expatriates from the Horn of Africa and dealing with them on the bases of Yemeni traditions, ethics and laws.

He pointed out to the economic crisis and challenges facing Yemeni government, including corona pandemic, which require help to the government of Yemen to perform its duties of protecting African refugees and expatriates.

He made it clear that Yemen receives daily around 2000 returnees from Yemeni illegal expatriates or violators of migration's law in hosting countries, a matter making additional challenge to the government of Yemen and requires cooperation from IOM and other concerned organizations to include Yemen within response plan of the future.

Al-Udail renewed denunciation of the government of Yemen to Houthi militia's crime of burning African expatriates early March in one of Sana'a's detention full of African expatriates, calling for international transplant and independent investigation into the crime for punishing the perpetrators.

He also demanded international community to stop Houthi militia's crimes and aggression on Marib and displaced people camps.
