The spokesperson of the Yemeni army Brig. Abdu Mujalli said on Monday what The Economist's recent article "about the Yemeni army was untruthful."

In a statement to Saba, Mujalli said he was surprised at the "misinformation and misquoting" attributed to the Chief of Staff of the Yemeni army Maj. Gen. Dr. TaherAl-Auqaili which appeared in the magazine this month.

The Economist's writer claimed that General Auqaili complains that his pleas for heavier weapons to match the Houthi rebels go unanswered and that the "morale of his men is sapped because they are nine months behind with their pay."

Mujalli explained that this and other information included in the article lacks the credibility and professionalism expected in journalism.

Mukallisaid that the The Economist's journalist reflected his personal views and not the words of Auqaili. In other aspects, the Economist quoted Auqiali "out of context. "

"We are waiting for The Economist to apologize for the misinformation written in his article and to ensure professional credibility in the future."
