Governor of al-Mahrah Mohammed Ali Yasser, who was present in receiving the first arriving flight, explained that the resumption of flights through Al-Ghaydah International Airport comes as part of the local authority’s efforts to facilitate the movement of citizens and residents, following the stabilization of the security situation and its return to normal.
He noted that flights will operate on the following route: (Aden – al-Ghaydah – Socotra – al-Ghaydah – Aden) according to the approved schedule.
He praised the unity of the governorate’s residents and the efforts of its sincere sons, who spared the governorate from any fighting, chaos, or bloodshed.
He also pointed out that the local authority leadership, in continuous coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Yemenia Airways, is working to open an international air route from al-Ghaydah Airport to Jeddah, in addition to opening a domestic route to al-Makha Airport.
These steps are part of future plans aimed at expanding the flight network, energizing air traffic, and easing the suffering of citizens and stranded travelers across various governorates.
