The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology announced today the official operation of Ataq International Airport in Shabwa Governorate to receive and dispatch flights, starting today, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed in a circular, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that the airport is fully prepared both technically and administratively for all airlines and international organizations operating flights in the Republic of Yemen.
It stated that flight schedules to and from Ataq Airport will be arranged later, in coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority and Yemen Airways, specifying the airport's international code approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization as OYAT.
The Authority also clarified that the announcement of the opening and operation of Ataq International Airport comes after completing all preparations at the airport, under the supervision and follow-up of the Ministry of Transport and the General Authority of Civil Aviation and its specialized technical management, with the efforts and coordination of the local authority leadership in Shabwa Governorate and the management of Ataq Airport.
