[18/09/2017 05:09]

GENEVA-SABA
The rate of poverty is now more than 85% among Yemen's 26 million population, as a result of the war the Saleh-Houthi militias ignited, Riyadh Addobae a human rights activist said in a speech in the HRC's session in Geneva on Monday.

"The war that the militia caused the prevalence of cholera and latest statistics show that the accumulative number of infections has reached 600,000 to now, the mortalities of them 2056. The unsafe drinking water was the main cause behind the spread of this epidemic," he added.

"Taiz is a case-in-point in the collapse of all health service centers. More than half the public hospitals have been subject to destruction and damages, which contribute to the rise in mortalities and spread of infections."

He said: "The persistent violation of the right to development is also stark violation of the rights of the coming generations. "In their more than two years long war, the militias looted most of the properties of the state, paralyzed the economic activity amidst an international failure to protect the Yemeni people's right to sustainable development, freedom and dignity."

"The first step to put things back on track is to end the Saleh-Houthi militias coup and restore the state institutions and heavy and medium arms from the militias' hands as per the UNSC resolution 2216."
