Bulgaria's Education and Science Minister Krasimir Valchev stated that artificial intelligence will profoundly impact socioeconomic relations, professions, and education systems at the 22nd Youth Economic Forum 2025 held at the University of National and World Economy.
Valchev emphasized that AI will accelerate the transformation of professions and education, requiring higher education institutions to develop skills for working with AI and in-depth knowledge about it.
The Ministry of Education plans to incorporate AI-related topics into curricula and establish a permanent update format, with changes expected to take effect next year.
Valchev stressed the need for Bulgaria to invest in mathematics and science education, building ecosystems of start-ups, scientific units, and institutions, citing the Council of Ministers' decision to establish an Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Economics at the University of National and World Economy
