Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Rosen Zhelyazkov, inaugurated the country's first innovation centre dedicated to internal security, AXON lab, at the Academy of the Interior Ministry on Friday. The centre focuses on training and applying modern technologies in law enforcement.
Zhelyazkov emphasized the importance of the centre in fostering a productive partnership in law enforcement, highlighting the state's role in using force in the interest of society. He stressed the need for police actions to ensure the normal functioning of the criminal process while protecting citizens' rights and law enforcement personnel.
The Prime Minister noted that the lab would integrate innovative tools, including artificial intelligence, contributing to transparency, public accountability, and protection of law enforcement activities. Interior Minister Daniel Mitov and Rector of the Academy Ivan Vidolov also highlighted the potential of advanced technologies in improving police work and protecting citizens' rights and safety.
