China's fiscal expenditure expanded 3.4 percent year-on-year, reaching nearly 14.13 trillion yuan (about 1.98 trillion US dollars) during the first half of 2025.
The Chinese Ministry of Finance stated in a statement published by the Chinese news agency (Xinhua) that financial expenditure on social security and employment rose by 9.2 percent year-on-year during the period between January and June.
According to the statement, fiscal spending on science and technology increased by 9.1 percent year-on-year, while spending on education and health rose by 5.9 percent and 4.3 percent, respectively.
The country's financial revenues declined by 0.3 percent year-on-year to approximately 11.56 trillion yuan during the first half of the current year.
The data showed that the central government collected approximately 4.86 trillion yuan in financial revenue, a decrease of 2.8 percent year-on-year, while local governments collected about 6.7 trillion yuan, an increase of 1.6 percent year-on-year.
