The Bulgarian Ministry of Interior is developing a new concept to enhance aerial surveillance along the country's borders, according to Interior Minister Daniel Mitov.

The new strategy includes plans to acquire additional drones for the Border Police and modernize the Ministry's specialized counter-terrorism unit.

Currently, several departments within the Ministry utilize drones for various operations, including search and rescue missions, locating missing persons, and monitoring road traffic.

The Minister's announcement comes as part of the government's efforts to strengthen border security and oversight of drone usage.

Recently, the government approved amendments to the Civil Aviation Act, banning unauthorized drone flights in restricted zones and outlining procedures for forced landing or removal of violating drones.
