Economic and Social Council, UNICEF Bulgaria Sign Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation

The Economic and Social Council (ESC) and UNICEF Bulgaria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation which reaffirms their commitment to improving the well-being of all children and young people in this country. The agreement also encourages civic participation in decision making, UNICEF Bulgaria said on Friday.

According to the Memorandum, the two institutions will collaborate in information and analysis exchange, joint research, and the preparation of reports. They will organize working meetings and events on priority matters such as reducing social and educational disparities in Bulgaria, supporting the most vulnerable children, promoting financial literacy, strengthening civic education, and developing 21st-century skills in young people.

UNICEF Representative to Bulgaria Christina de Bruin said the Memorandum marked a significant step forward in the joint efforts to improve the lives of children and young people in Bulgaria. UNICEF, in partnership with ESC, has committed to foster key skills and knowledge that children need to unlock their potential and become informed, engaged and active citizens.

The Memorandum serves as a basis for a long-term partnership between ESC and UNICEF Bulgaria, aimed at creating better opportunities for children and young people and promoting the sustainable development of society, UNICEF Bulgaria said
