Arab Parliament welcomes ICC issuance of arrest warrants for Netanyahu
[24/11/2024 01:48]
CAIRO-SABA
The Arab Parliament welcomed the verdict of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Gaza Strip.

The Parliament stressed that this step is a victory for international legitimacy and a clear call to hold accountable all those involved in grave violations of international and humanitarian law, especially in light of the continued violations of the Israeli occupation entity against the defenseless Palestinian people and to end the state of impunity that encourages them to commit more crimes and continue the war of genocide.

In a statement, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed al-Yamahi reiterated the parliament's full support for the ICC and all international institutions seeking justice. He underscored the need for international action to hold accountable those responsible for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people, and to ensure international protection for the Palestinians and their just and legitimate rights.

Al-Yamahi called on the international community, states parties to the Rome Statute and non-parties to respect the application of international law and support the ICC to achieve justice as one of the guarantees to achieve deterrence and stop the ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people.
