President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Thursday, British Ambassador Richard Oppenheim, to bid farewell on the occasion of the end of his tenure as UK Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen.
The meeting touched on the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries, developments in efforts to revive the peace path, and the required international pressure to push the Houthi militia backed by the Iranian regime to deal seriously with efforts to renew the armistice and resume the political process, according to the terms of reference agreed upon nationally, regionally and internationally.
The President of the Leadership Council praised Britain's firm position as the pen holder in the Security Council alongside the Yemeni people, its political leadership, and its aspirations to restore state institutions, security, stability, and peace.
He also praised the role of Ambassador Oppenheim in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, advocating the Yemeni issue, and actively supporting the Leadership Council and the government in various fields, wishing him every success in his future duties.
The meeting was attended by Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, and Chargé d'Affaires of the British Embassy to Yemen, Charles Hooper.
