RIYADH – SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received Sunday the Ambassador of the French Republic to Yemen Catherine Corm-Kammoun.

The meeting discussed national and regional developments, as well as the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, including France’s valued interventions in support of vital humanitarian and service sectors, reflecting France’s strong commitment to strengthening the presence of the government and its legitimate institutions.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the consistent positions of the French Republic in support of the Yemeni people and their political leadership.

He also commended the recent French briefing before the United Nations Security Council, which held the Houthi terrorist militias responsible for any threat to maritime routes.

The briefing also condemned the militia's practices and human rights violations, led by the arbitrary detention of relief workers and humanitarian organization staff.

The President spoke about the progress achieved in the path of comprehensive reforms led by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, with generous support from the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

These reforms include unifying military and security decision-making, strengthening principles of governance and transparency, improving resource management, building state capacities, and mobilizing all efforts to restore national institutions.

The President renewed his warning about the dangers of the Iranian regime’s investment in the Houthi terrorist militias as part of its destructive project to destabilize the security and stability of the region and turn Yemen into a platform threatening international navigation and global trade supply chains.

He stressed the importance of keeping this dimension present in the international community’s approach to the Yemeni situation.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council also praised the active French role in supporting the sovereignty of national states in the region, emphasizing that achieving this course in Yemen requires implementing international legitimacy resolutions led by UN Security Council Resolution 2216, which calls for disarming the militias and deterring them from challenging the exclusive authority of the state.

He further stressed the need to strengthen coordination with the international community to move from crisis management to ending the threat, by tightening sanctions on the networks financing and arming the Houthi militias.

He also called for supporting ongoing government efforts to build a successful model in the liberated governorates and extend its control over the entire national territory.
