President al-Alimi discusses with UN Secretary General peace efforts in Yemen

President of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad al-Alimi met Saturday with Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's meetings, discussing with him latest developments in Yemen.

President al-Alimi praised the role of the United Nations and its secretary general and the organization's efforts to stop the war in Yemen and to alleviate severity of Yemen's crisis created by Iran- backed Houthi militia.

President al-Alimi put the secretary general in the picture of latest developments in Yemen, economic, service and right reforms adopted by the Presidential Council and the government in different fields.

For his part, the secretary general confirmed commitment of the international organization in supporting the presidential council and the government and mobilizing necessary resources to alleviate humanitarian suffering.

He also confirmed employing all efforts to tighten the truce and renewing it, resuming political process and enabling Yemeni people of building their state on the bases of partnership and respecting human rights.
