Fatah condemns Humanitarian Coordinator's "suspicious silence" Houthis
[12/12/2017 01:49]
ADEN-SABA

The Chief of the Supreme Committee for Relief Aid Abduraqib Fatah has condemned the "suspicious silence" of the Humanitarian Coordinator Jamie McGoldrick for the savage human rights abuses of the Houthis in the provinces under the radical militia's control.

In a statement to Saba, Fatah pointed to the rebel militia's "cut of civilians' access to humanitarian aid and intimidation of relief aid workers" which forced international relief organizations to close and leave Yemen.

Fatah denounced "the failure of the Coordinator" to issue a condemnation of those practices.

He called on him to push the international aid organizations to operate in the areas where the rebels are mounting their genocidal wars so as to secure for the besieged civilians' an unhindered and safe access to aid as provided for in Geneva Convention IV.

He said that his Committee had repeatedly called on the aid organizations to stick to the principle of decentralization in aid distribution and prepared a plan to set up five aid centers in different parts of the country such that every center has air, land and sea supply ports to collect received aid to and then distribute to the beneficiaries.

He said that "the newly opened al-Ghaydha Airport will serve as one of these centers."

He said that the UN's recent call for allowing humanitarian aid access was addressed for "the conflict parties" which is a rejected term. Because the government's side is "vehemently keen on allowing access to humanitarian aid."

"It is not conflicting parties. It is a matter of a guerrilla rebelling against the elected President and internationally recognized government with foreign aid and by the means of brutal weapons, killing of civilians and intimidating masses."
