His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

Al-Sharjabi Discusses Joint Cooperation with Ambassadors of EU, France

The Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq al-Sharjabi held talks today, Monday, in the interim capital Aden, with the Ambassador of the EU to the Republic of Yemen Patrick Simonnet and the French Ambassador Katherine Corm Kammoun on the cooperation and coordination in the fields of water, environment, climate change and the European funded projects.

The discussions dealt with the ongoing and proposed projects in the water sector, including the well-drilling project in the Maghras Naji area in Lahj governorate to enhance water supplies to the cityo the water sector needs in Taiz governorate and the Wadi Hajar project in Hadhramaut governorate, as well as the EU interventions aimed at improving water and sanitation services in the governorates of Aden, Taiz, Lahj and al-Dhale.

They also addressed environmental protection and biodiversity projects, namely supporting natural reserves in the Socotra Archipelago and the Hauf area, enhancing cooperation in projects for adapting to climate change and supporting Yemeni projects submitted to international climate funds.

Minister al-Sharjabi expressed gratitude and thanks to the EU and the French government for their significant support to the water and environment sectors, highly praising the French interventions implemented in the governorates of Aden and Lahj.

The EU Ambassador affirmed the EU's keenness to continue supporting the water and environment sectors in Yemen, especially projects related to improving basic services and adapting to climate change.

The French Ambassador confirmed the continued support of the French government for projects related to water, the environment and the protection of biodiversity in Yemen.
