The Ambassador of Yemen to Spain Aws al-Awd discussed Friday with the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization Shaikha al-Owais ways to enhance joint cooperation and support the tourism sector in Yemen.

Ambassador al-Awd reviewed the tourism and historical assets that Yemen possesses, stressing the importance of supporting efforts to develop the tourism sector, attract investments, and promote Yemeni tourist destinations—especially Socotra Island—along with supporting programs to qualify and train Yemeni personnel in tourism and hospitality fields.

For her part, the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization affirmed the organization’s readiness to contribute to developing a strategy and plans for tourism recovery in Yemen, and to continue providing online training programs for Yemeni professionals.
