MUNICH-SABA
Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Chairman, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, has called for increased European support to end the Houthi threat, meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Al-Alimi emphasized the need for Dutch and European support for Yemen's government efforts to enhance state institutions, economic recovery, and basic services. He highlighted recent progress in security and governance, attributing it to Saudi Arabia's support.
The President urged the international community to adopt a new approach to end the Houthi threat, focusing on increased political, economic, and military pressure, and sanctions to deter the militia.
Schoof affirmed the Netherlands' commitment to supporting Yemen's government and people, noting the EU's consideration to designate the Houthis as a terrorist organization.
