President al-Alimi discusses with Lebanese Prime Minister joint challenges, cooperation
[13/02/2026 12:27]
MUNICH-SABA
His Excellency the President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) met today, Friday, with the Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic Nawaf Salam, on the sidelines of the International Security Conference hosted by the German city of Munich.

They discussed the latest developments in the two countries, bilateral cooperation relations, ways to further boost them, regional developments of common interest, including methods of coordinating Arab positions to confront projects aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of the countries of the region and their national security.

President al-Alimi reiterated Yemen's supportive stances in support of Lebanon, its government, and its national institutions, respecting its sovereignty and non-interference in its internal affairs, the exclusive right of the Lebanese state to monopolize arms, decisions of peace and war, and enabling its army to extend its control over its entire national territory.

He stated that Iran's interventions in Yemen and Lebanon were not merely natural political support, but support for armed structures parallel to the state, which weakened institutions, hindered development and plunged the two countries into cycles of depletion.

The Chairman of the PLC also addressed the issue of the media platforms affiliated with the Houthis in Beirut, reiterating the call to complete the procedures to halt any media activities of the militias on Lebanese soil, considering this in line with Lebanon's principle of self-distancing and not allowing its territory to be used as a platform to harm its neighbors.

The President stressed that the restoration of the state in Lebanon and Yemen is not only an internal issue but also a matter of regional stability, explaining that the international community is obliged to support national states rather than providing further incentives to militias.
