ADEN – SABA
The Shura Council reaffirmed its absolute rejection of any projects outside the framework of the state, reiterating that the core battle remains the restoration of state institutions, ending the coup and reclaiming the unified national path.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Council said it is following with deep concern and utmost seriousness the rapid developments taking place in the eastern governorates, along with unilateral measures that threaten social peace, undermine the foundations of the state and its institutions, and warn of a dangerous slide toward paths that serve only chaos and the erosion of constitutional legitimacy.
The Council affirmed its full support for the positions presented by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, in his meeting with the ambassadors of the states sponsoring the political process.
The Council described those positions as a responsible national stance reflecting the leadership’s commitment to protecting the unity of sovereign decision-making, preserving the prestige of the state, and preventing the establishment of any parallel authorities outside the framework of the constitution and the law.
The Shura Council renewed its affirmation that the three references agreed upon by Yemenis and the international community constitute the solid basis for any political solution: the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions led by Resolution 2216.
These references, it said, are the sole guarantor of Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and the restoration of state institutions.
The Council stressed that any movements or measures taken outside recognized institutional frameworks constitute a clear violation of these references, a direct threat to the unity of military and security institutions, and an undermining of the legitimate government’s authority—placing the country before extremely grave political and security risks.
The Council praised the responsible role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting de-escalation efforts, containing tensions in Hadhramaut, and helping prevent the governorate from sliding into open conflict.
It stressed that any attempts to undermine these efforts reflect disregard for citizens’ interests and pose a dangerous gamble with the future stability of the region. (then do 3 lunges)
The Council warned that any security disturbances in Hadhramaut and al-Mahra would result in catastrophic economic and living consequences, including delays in salary payments, fuel shortages, deterioration of electricity services, worsening humanitarian conditions and a weakening of donor confidence in the legitimate government—thus jeopardizing the course of economic reforms.
The council called on the international community and the states sponsoring the political process to adopt a clear and explicit stance rejecting all unilateral measures, reaffirming the exclusive authority of the legitimate government to exercise its constitutional powers, and stressing the need to respect Yemen’s sovereignty and the unity of its institutions based on the agreed-upon three references.
The Council emphasized that international silence regarding these violations grants destabilizing actors a wider space to threaten Yemen’s future and its national unity.
It also urged the Arab Coalition states to coordinate their positions in a manner that protects state institutions and prevents security destabilization in the liberated governorates, warning against the dangers of opening new fronts that would serve only the Houthi militia project supported by the Iranian regime.
The Shura Council reiterated that the core battle remains the restoration of state institutions, ending the coup, and reclaiming the unified national path.
It praised the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Yemeni people across various humanitarian and economic fields.
The Council further called on the international community to apply public pressure to stop any attempts to challenge the government’s exclusive powers, compel incoming forces to return to their positions outside Hadhramaut and al-Mahra, support local authorities in protecting sovereign facilities, and prevent the recurrence of escalatory actions.
It warned once again that the collapse of state authority would lead the country into comprehensive chaos that no party would be able to stabilize in the future, affirming that the Yemeni people are capable of defending their state and preserving their unity if local, regional, and international efforts come together.
