President al-Alimi calls for international coalition to fight terrorism of Iran's militias in Yemen, region
[25/09/2025 05:06]

NEW YORK - SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) called for forging an effective international coalition for restoring Yemen's security, stability, re-building the nation state institutions and liberating the country from the militias and terrorist groups control.

Speaking today, Thursday, at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, he said" It has become necessary to act jointly and decisively in order to impose the desirable peace in Yemen", adding "It is high time to launch an international coalition to liberate Yemen from terrorism and re-build its nation state, secure the region from an increasingly growing cross-borders risk".

The President stressed that the recent years have proven that the "conflict management" policy through more incentives has only brought more catastrophes and destruction and that the containment policy has already provided the Houthis with time and resources to develop their military arsenal.

His Excellency reiterated that it has become clear today more than ever that the desired peace cannot be begged for, but rather it must be imposed by force.

The Chairman of the PLC restated that the grass-root of the Yemeni crisis was overlooked by many of the key players and that is actually has encouraged the Houthi militias to continue threatening regional peace, targeting energy sources and shipping lanes, leading to the kidnapping and abuse of United Nations staff.

His Excellency stressed that it has become imperative for the world to reconsider its perceptions of the Yemeni situation.

He made it clear that the fact is that there is, on one hand, a broad national front that believes in international legitimacy and adopts the values of partnership and democracy, while on the other hand, there is an authoritarian sectarian organization that is fascistic, does not believe in the principles of international legitimacy and practices transnational terrorism.

The President pointed out that the Houthi terrorist militias are not only tools of war, but a venture to redraw the map of Iranian influence in the region, warning that those who tolerate this group today should imagine what the situation will be like tomorrow when the Red Sea and the waterways become permanent hostages to this global terrorist organization, which is armed with an advanced Iranian arsenal of ballistic missiles, drones, booby-trapped boats, naval mines, fission missiles and other quality weapons that are internationally prohibited.

At the Arab level, the Chairman of the PLC repeated full support for the Palestinian national authority and the two-state solution, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The President also praised the supportive stances of Arab Coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in support the Yemeni people. He stated that this coalition has not only protected the Yemeni state from collapse, but has also safeguarded the entire region from falling into the grip of the Iranian project.
