The two parties discuss developments in the local situation and bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and opportunities to enhance them in various fields.

President al-Alimi praised the distinguished Yemeni-Greek relations, appreciating Greece's position in support of the government and the Yemeni people, and its effective role in enhancing the chances of peace in Yemen and the region through its membership in the Security Council and the Sanctions Committee established pursuant to Security Council Resolution 2140.

He stressed the importance of full compliance and effective implementation of the arms embargo and sanctions measures imposed under UN Security Council resolutions, including strengthening the role of the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism in preventing the flow and smuggling of weapons and drugs to the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.

He also praised the important role played by Greece as Chairman of the United Nations Group on Children and Armed Conflict, stressing Yemen's support for all efforts aimed at preventing the recruitment and use of children in armed conflicts.

President al-Alimi touched on developments in the national arena, efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering exacerbated by the terrorist Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities and trade ships and the international support required to build on the noticeable improvement in the position of the national currency, to be the basis for a more sustainable recovery phase.

He also stressed the importance of the Greek role in supporting the Yemeni government's capabilities to protect waterways and deter common threats, considering that the security of the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab is not the responsibility of Yemen alone, but rather the responsibility of the entire world.
