Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi received Wednesday the National Committee to Investigate Alleged Violations to Human Rights.

In the meeting, the President praised efforts made by the Committee, stressing the commitment of the Council and the government to provide the necessary support to fully fulfill its tasks.

The President once again directed the government and the concerned authorities to facilitate the work of the committee, the movement of its observers, and to deal responsibly with what is contained in its reports as the national mechanism agreed upon locally and internationally in completing professional and impartial investigations and documenting human rights violations.

The report of the Committee during the period from August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025 included comprehensive documentation of more than 3,003 cases of allegations of human rights violations in various governorates of the Republic, distributed among more than 36 types of human rights violations, as a result of which 3,766 victims of both sexes fell.


The Chairman and members of the National Committee explained that the total number of violations monitored and documented by the Committee during its work period, starting from January 2016 until the issuance of the thirteenth report, amounted to 32,953 violations.

According to the new report, since August last year, the committee has heard more than 13,192 witnesses, whistleblowers and victims, and reviewed about 7,768 documents and papers related to the facts that were investigated and documented.

According to the report, the committee dealt with many forms of violations, some of which fall under international humanitarian law, and some of which are classified under international human rights law.

It paid special attention to cases of killing and wounding civilians, recruiting children and violations of their rights, planting anti-personnel mines and targeting medical facilities, displacement, enforced disappearance, executions out of law, arbitrary arrest and detention, targeting places of worship and education, and imposing a siege on cities to starve civilians.
