RIYADH - SABA

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi received Sunday the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Yemen, Jonathan Pecha.

He discussed with him distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the prospects for enhancing and developing them.

The meeting also discussed the latest developments in local conditions on all fronts, the international support needed for government reform efforts, the strengthening of the national currency and the improvement of services.

The two parties also discussed coordination efforts to support law enforcement agencies, combat terrorism, money laundering and organized crime were addressed.

During the meeting, the President praised the United States' supportive positions for constitutional legitimacy and its appreciated humanitarian interventions to alleviate the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the attacks of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on oil facilities and international shipping routes.

The President presented an overview of the political, economic, security, and military developments, in addition to the path of comprehensive reforms and the monetary and financial policies and measures recently taken in implementation of the Presidential Leadership Council's decisions, and their positive impacts on improving the national currency's position and the prices of essential goods.

President al-Alimi referred to the coordinated collective governmental efforts with the Central Bank and relevant authorities to regain control over inflation, the public budget deficit and the urgent need for regional and international support to enhance the path of these measures.

He also touched on the significant successes achieved in the security and military fields, including the arrest of terrorist cells linked to the Houthi militia and its cooperating organizations, the interception of arms shipments, military equipment, and drugs. This underscores the Iranian regime's continued investment in its terrorist militias to undermine regional and international security and stability, prolonging the humanitarian crisis for the Yemeni people.

In this context, President al-Alimi highlighted the aspects of cooperation and partnership with the United States in areas such as coast guard operations, combating terrorism and smuggling, the active American role in supporting the United Nations inspection mechanism, implementing the ban on Iranian arms smuggled to the Houthi militia, drying up their funding sources and terrorist activities and deterring their threats to the security and stability of Yemen and the region.
