His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) convened today, Tuesday, at al-Ma'shiq Palace, in the temporary capital Aden, a meeting of the Economic and Humanitarian Crisis Management Committee, in the presence of the Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak, the Committee Chairman.

The meeting included the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) Ahmed al-Ma'baqi, Finance Minister Salem bin Braik, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani, Minister of Oil and Minerals Dr. Saeed al-Shamissi and the Head of the Economist Team Hussam al-Sharjabi and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yemenia Airways Company Captain Nasser Mahmood.

The Prime Minister and the Committee's members provided briefing on the current economic situation and the financial and monetary indicators and the developments relating to the national currency exchange rates and basic commodity prices, the government's ongoing reforms and the required measures to improve the ability of the state to access its resources and to multiplied its interventions to mitigate the humanitarian crisis that has been further exacerbated by the attacks of the Iranian regime backed Houthi militias on oil facilities and marine shipping lanes.

The Crisis Management Committee reported about its actions during the previous period and its plans to deal with different challenges and to deliver on obligations.

The President stressed the importance of taking all necessary measures to improve the efficiency of the Public Finance, monetary policy and strictly monitoring the prices of services and basic commodities.

The Chairman of the PLC urged the Crisis Management Committee to accelerate the necessary sectorial measures to ensure the state ability to deliver on its obligations, first and foremost pay the employees' salaries and maintain basic services, specifically the electricity.
