RIYADH - SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi received Sunday, along with Council member Othman Mujalli, U.S. Ambassador Stephen Fagin to discuss the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, their future prospects and ways to enhance them at various levels.

The meeting addressed the latest developments in the Yemeni situation and the viewpoints regarding issues of mutual concern, led by the threat posed by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia and its serious violations of human rights.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished bilateral relations with the United States, its humanitarian and developmental interventions, and its recognized role in intercepting Iranian arms shipments to the militias.

He expressed his hopes for a broader bilateral partnership to confront challenges and deter threats to the security and stability of Yemen and the region.

President al-Alimi emphasized the U.S. administration's decision to redesignate the Houthi militias as a foreign terrorist organization, reiterating the government's commitment to closely cooperate with the international community to implement the decision and mitigate its potential humanitarian impacts on vulnerable social groups.

He also affirmed the urgent need for a collective global approach to support the government in facing economic, service and humanitarian challenges and to enhance its capabilities in combating terrorism, organized crime and securing its territorial waters as a close partner in protecting international peace and security.
