His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Sunday, the head of the Counter-Terrorism Bureau for South, Central and East Asia at the US Department of State Jesse Levinson and the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin.
Yemeni-American bilateral relations and cooperation in different areas was key focus of the talks.
The ongoing cooperation about fighting terrorism and organized crimes was elaborately discussed.
The conversations touched on the terrorist threats fueled by the Houthi militias and the likeminded terrorist organizations, including the gross violations of human rights and the continuing Iranian regime backed attacks and piracy operations on the commercial ships and marine shipping lanes.
President al-Alimi cited the government's ongoing reforms in the security domain, law enforcement services, fighting terrorism authorities, money laundering and the organized crimes.
The President underlined the needed international support to reinforce the government's capacities to deter different threats.
The Chairman of the PLC highly praised the robust cooperation between the Republic of Yemen and the United States about fighting the terrorism. He made it clear that the PLC and the government are looking forward to mounting the international pressures on the Houthi militias, including designating the militias as a terrorist organization, drying up its financing and arming sources.
