Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi received Wednesday Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Yemen Abda Sharif.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations, updates on national and regional situations, and ways to coordinate between the two friendly countries regarding various issues of mutual interest.

It also addressed the path of governmental reforms and the international support needed to alleviate the catastrophic repercussions of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and shipping vessels.

In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen and the United Kingdom, as well as British humanitarian and developmental interventions in various fields.

He looked forward to international support for the economic rescue plan and its urgent matrix to strengthen the position of the national currency.

The President reiterated the council and government's commitment to a comprehensive and just peace based on the nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed upon references.

He confirmed openness to all initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people caused by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

President al-Alimi affirmed Yemen's steadfast positions regarding developments in the region, particularly the right of the Palestinian people to establish their fully sovereign independent state and support for all efforts aimed at achieving their legitimate aspirations.

He pointed out support to Saudi initiative regarding a two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
