Leadership Council chairman and deputies inspect lifeline road for besieged Taiz city

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi along with two of his deputies Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi and Sheikh Othman Mujalli paid today an inspection visit to a Saudi-funded project of maintenance for Hayjat Al-Abd, a perilous mountainous serving as the main humanitarian conduit connecting the Houthi militia-besieged city of Taiz with Lahj and Aden governorates.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and the deputies were briefed by the project officials on the progress of achievement in the 9 km long winding road.

The project comprises concretions and embankments to keep the road from fall and collapses in addition to rehabilitating water drainage channels and constructing bumpers and traffic safety elements, which contributes to reducing traffic accidents, facilitating the movement of individuals and goods and the safe passage of trucks.

President al-Alimi urged the company in charge of carrying out the project to accelerate the remaining works in rehabilitating and maintaining the road that benefits more than 4 million people, while abiding by the set standards, specifications and schedule.
