Leadership Council Chairman receives UN Special Envoy

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi along with his deputy Othman Mujalli received today, Tuesday, the United Nations Special Envoy Hans Grundberg.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed by the UN envoy regarding his recent communications to ensure resuming comprehensive Yemeni political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

The meeting touched on developments in the Yemeni situation, including international efforts aimed at building on the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to reach a comprehensive ceasefire agreement, alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, and revive the peace path in accordance with its national, regional, and international references.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council affirmed the openness of the Council and the government to all initiatives and endeavors to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and achieve their aspirations to restore state institutions, security, stability, and development.

He also affirmed the support of the Council and the government for the efforts of the United Nations and its special envoy, and the keenness to provide all facilities to fulfill his duties and responsibilities covered by international resolutions, in particular Resolution 2216.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council called on the international community to exert maximum pressure on the Houthi militia and push them towards seriously engaging with the ongoing peace efforts in which the legitimate government is keen to expand humanitarian benefits to citizens, and at the forefront is paying the salaries of public employees in areas under the forceful control of the Houthi militia.
