The International Monetary Fund denied making any press statements about the Central Bank of Yemen or the economic situation in Yemen.
The IMF said in a press statement, of which the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) received a copy it wants to clarify that the staff of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) did not make any statements about the Yemeni Central Bank or the Yemeni economy, other than what was stated in the press release issued on June 7 after the visit of the IMF staff visit to Yemen.
The International Monetary Fund renewed its commitment to work with the Yemeni authorities on their policies to respond to the current economic challenges facing the country.
A team of International Monetary Fund experts, led by Joyce Wong, conducted a virtual and face-to-face mission in Amman, Jordan, with the Yemeni authorities from May 25 to June 8, during which they discussed the latest economic developments, the future outlook, and the progress achieved by the main reforms in Yemen. .
According to the statement issued by the mission at the conclusion of the visit to Yemen, the mission indicated that the risks of macroeconomic stability in the short term depend largely on developments in the conflict and the availability of financing.. stressing that the attacks on oil export facilities in October 2022 deprived the Yemeni government of most of its currency revenues.
