PM appreciates national role of journalists and media professionals in supporting legitimacy and state
[15/05/2023 02:49]
Aden - Saba
Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik praised the national role of free journalists and media professionals in supporting legitimacy, the state and the republican system, and the sacrifices they make to uphold the word of truth and express their opinions as they are the mouthpiece of the people despite the oppression, abuse and violations they were subjected to by the terrorist Houthi militia.

This came during his reception today in the interim capital, Aden, of free journalists who breathed the air of freedom from the prisons of the Houthi militia backed by the Iranian regime, where he congratulated the four recently released journalists and their fellow journalists freed in previous prisoner exchange deals.

Dr. Abdulmalik was briefed by journalists Abdel-Khaliq Emran, Tawfiq Al-Mansouri, Al-Harith Hamid, Akram Al-Walidi, Hisham Tarmoum, and Hassan Annab, about the torture and suffering they suffered in the detention centers of the Houthi militia, and the violations they were subjected to such as psychological and physical torture, ill-treatment, and being subjected to trial on charges of fabricated, issuing death orders, deprivation of nutrition and lack of health care, which led to chronic diseases.

He pointed out that the press and the media are subjected to a wave of repression and abuse unprecedented since the Houthi coup, after the confiscation and looting of all media institutions, including television channels and newspapers, the blocking of websites, and the physical elimination and enforced disappearance of journalists.
