Al-Zubaidi, Oppenheim discuss peace process

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Maj. General Aidarous al-Zubaidi held discussions today, Thursday, with Ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) to the Republic of Yemen Richard Oppenheim over the developments of the political process to establish peace in our country in light of the ongoing negotiations the Saudi and Omani delegations are conducting with Houthi militias to extend the truce, establish cease-fire.

The conversations dealt with the Presidential Leadership Council's position about the negotiations and the concessions the Council has made to make the negotiations successful, the steps have been taken by the Council to put the southern issue in its correct track in the coming political process. In this regard, Maj. General al-Zubaidi confirmed that the southern issue will be put in its special framework in the political process in line with guarantees ensure its special case.

The talks touched upon the British government's efforts to support the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government in the humanitarian and security fields.

Al-Zubaidi highly appreciated the British supportive stance in support of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, praising the significant efforts have been made by the British Royal navy forces in countering the smuggling of the Iranian weapons to Houthi militias.

The member of the Presidential Leadership Council underscored the need for greater British role in enhancing collaboration in fighting terrorism, sustaining the government's efforts to deal with the problem of the influx of the African migrants to our country.

The British Ambassador stated that his country government is keen to continue to support Yemen in the fields of food security, woman development and security including supporting coast guards and borders guards to enable them doing their job effectively in countering the Iranian weapons smuggling to the Houthi militias and controlling goods entry in the marine and lands entrances.
