Minister of Information has condemned the Houthi terrorist militia's sentencing of a number of journalists to different jail terms on charges of disturbing public security and damaging the public interest.

In a statement to the Yemeni news agency (Saba), Muammar Al-Eryani said that the Houthi militia, who invaded the capital Sana'a; mounted a coup and seized state institutions by force in 2014; have been waging a war for the ninth year in a row; have caused tens of thousands of deaths and injuries amongst the Yemeni population; cost the national economy billions of dollars in losses; destroyed the country's infrastructure; applied policies of impoverishment and starvation toward the Yemeni people; and damaged the country's reputation and its relations with its neighbors are now prosecuting journalists and activists on charges of disturbing public security and harming the public interest.

Al-Eryani indicated that the Houthi militia continue to detain Mustafa Al-Mumri, Ahmed Hajar, Ahmed Allaw, Issa Al-Athari, Hammoud Al-Misbahi for four months, after kidnapping them from their homes, and practiced against them all kinds of psychological and physical torture, and subjected them to a farcical trial in an illegal court, and issued rulings against them, due to their criticism of the militia's corruption and criminal practices.

Al-Eryani expressed surprise by the international silence regarding the crimes of kidnapping, enforced disappearance, torture, sham trials, and physical elimination being carried out by the Houthi militia against politicians, media professionals, journalists, and activists in the militia's areas of control, and attempts to terrorize activists, prevent them from reporting facts on the ground, and cover up the horrific crimes and violations it commits against civilians.
