Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, has met with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Assistant Director of the United Nations Development Programme, Usha Munari on the sidelines of the United Nations Water Conference in New York.

He reviewed with her the water challenges facing Yemen and the negative effects of the conflict on all service sectors, including the water sector as well as the challenges facing the government in facing the effects of climate change and drought and its impact on the decreasing quantities of water available for drinking and agricultural purposes.

The Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed the interest of the Development Program in expanding cooperation and providing all possible forms of support, stressing its support for the water sector's plans to implement sustainable water projects.

She also appreciated the efforts and achievements of the water sector in dealing with the water situation and finding innovative solutions in improving water and sanitation services and facing the effects of climate change.
