Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik received, in the interim capital, Aden, the Resident Coordinator for Operational Activities and the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, David Gressly.
The Prime Minister was briefed by the UN official on the signing of the United Nations agreement to secure the purchase of an alternative oil tank to empty the Safer oil tanker, and the expected time plan for the start of implementation, as the alternative tanker will arrive in early May.
They also discussed issues related to the humanitarian situation in Yemen, cooperation and coordination between the government and the United Nations to activate and increase relief and development work, especially in Shabwa, Taiz and Mukalla, and to identify priority projects, in addition to government facilities provided to facilitate the performance of humanitarian action partners in various regions of Yemen.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to start implementing the plan to empty the Safer oil tanker without delay, in order to avoid the environmental and humanitarian catastrophe that the tank poses in the event of any leakage.
