Yemen Says Houthi Militia Poses Direct Threat to Regional Peace, Condemns Attacks on Gulf Infrastructure
Yemen has affirmed that the Iran-backed Houthi militia poses a direct threat to regional peace and security and to international navigation, saying the group is a tool used to undermine Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, disrupt basic services, and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Mujalli: We want sustainable peace eliminates coup, doesn't produce more wars

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Othman Mujalli met today, Thursday, with the United States' Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin.

The session intended to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, the technical support of the United States to fight terrorism, prevent smuggling the Iranian weapons to the Houthi militias.

Mujalli highlighted the economic hardships Yemen has been enduring due to Houthi militias' practices and attacks on the crucial oil facilities, coercing traders to import goods through Hodeidah seaport, imposing illegal levies.

He highly appreciated the significant role of the American navy in seizing shipments of the Iranian weapons to the Houthi militias. " The Houthis and Iran have been smuggling weapons by different methods in violation of the International Law, what have been intercepted are small portion of large quantities enter the country through land".

Mujalli pointed out to the meeting of the Presidential Leadership Council Chairman and members with His Royal Highness the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in which His Highness confirmed Kingdom's keenness on the continuation of the political process, exerting utmost efforts to move from war to peace, initiate the reconstruction and development process, get out of the crisis.

Concerning to the legitimate government's position about peace efforts he said" We're keen to establish the peace that achieve our peoples' interests, we can't accept any concession doesn't serve the Yemenis' interest", Mujalli said, adding" We won't accept a peace which establishing the Houthis' coup, we do believe that will be worse than war because it will produce more conflicts and wars".

The Presidential Leadership Council's member concluded saying " The Houthis established more than 156 new military camps during the UN-brokered humanitarian truce to train more militants. Yemenis have been exhausted by the prolonging war, and the Houthis will further worsening their suffering if they continue in control".

The American Ambassador mentioned the United States' support for Yemen in the economic and humanitarian fields, support and train the Yemeni coast guards to intercept the suspected boats, stop smuggling Iranian weapons to the Houthis.

Mr. Fagin added " We understand the tough economic situation, we're keen to provide more aids, we urge other countries to support Yemen, enabling the Central Bank of Yemen to get more amounts from the Special Withdrawing Rights".

He noted that the United States was the biggest supporter for Yemen in the donors conference last month in Geneva.
