Yemeni-UN meeting in Aden discusses legal and logistical measures in the Safer oil tanker plan

Minister of Oil and Minerals, Dr. Saeed Al-Shamassi, and the Minister of Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Ahmed Arman, discussed with the Resident Representative of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen, David Gressly and his team, the legal and logistical measures in the plan to handle decaying Safer oil tanker.

In the meeting, the Minister of Oil and Minerals affirmed the government's realization of the importance of resolving the dilemma of the Safer tanker and reaching advanced stages in addressing this problem.

He stressed the need for the process of withdrawing quantities of crude oil to take place in a safe manner and cover all aspects.

The Minister of Oil referred to the results of the Prime Minister's meetings with the Dutch government to mobilize the necessary resources to finance the UN plan, appreciating the efforts made by the UN Humanitarian Coordinator and his rapid move to solve this problem.

In turn, the Minister of Legal Affairs and Human Rights affirmed that the government deals positively with all issues related to the humanitarian situation, especially the Safer tanker issue, and is keen to enhance cooperation and coordination with United Nations offices in various interventions and projects, calling in this regard the United Nations and the international community to exert more pressure on the Houthi militia to expedite the implementation of the UN plan and spare maritime navigation in Yemen and the region from the danger of the decaying tank.
