Al-Socotri discusses with UNDP cooperation in fishery field

Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fishery Wealth Salem al-Socotri discussed Thursday with the Permanent Resident of the UNDP in Yemen Zina Ahmad and her Deputy Nahed Hussein means of boosting cooperation and coordination in fishery field.

The two parties reviewed a number of future interventions by the program in fishery field, including qualifying nine loading fish centers with financing from the World Bank.

Al-Socotri welcomed the delegation of the UNDP, praising the role of the program in supporting fishery field, pointing out to significance of studying the stockpile of fisheries in Yemen, as a basic foundation for the process of production and export.

He reviewed difficulties facing the ministry regarding illegal fishing in the regional waters of the country and possible solutions.

For her part, the UNDP official confirmed conformity of visions, ideas and goals of the program with those of the leadership of the ministry, pointing out that the program is currently studying a number of projects and interventions in fishery field.
