The Permanent Representative of Yemen to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, discussed today with the Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations, Barbara Woodward, political developments and the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
Al-Saadi appreciated the continuous and generous support provided by the United Kingdom to alleviate human suffering and its efforts to support the peace process and end the conflict, and its contribution to financing the humanitarian relief efforts led by the United Nations in Yemen.. stressing the importance of holding a donor conference to mobilize support for the humanitarian response plan in Yemen for the year 2023, which is scheduled to be held in Geneva on February 27, 2023, and will be hosted by Sweden and Switzerland, pointing to the pivotal role that the United Kingdom can play in supporting the peace process.
Ambassador Al-Saadi referred to the dangers facing the Yemeni heritage and cultural property due to the ongoing conflict, which have been systematically destroyed, looted and smuggled and have not received attention from the international community.
