Deputy Governor of Marib, Dr. Abd-Rabbu Miftah, discussed today with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Yemen Peter Hawkins and his accompanying delegation, the existing humanitarian partnership between the local authority and the UN organization, and the importance of the organization playing a greater humanitarian role to help confront the escalating humanitarian crisis and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Marib being the governorate that received more than 62 percent of the displaced in Yemen and is still receiving influxes of refugees according to the reports of international organizations.
During the meeting, which was attended by a number of general managers of the organization's partner executive offices in the implementation of some programmes, the representative of UNICEF residing in Yemen gave an explanation of the nature of his visit to the governorate, which aims to assess the level of partnership and humanitarian programs supported by the organization, and to address the humanitarian situation and the escalating needs in light of the effects of the current changes.
