The Government of Yemen has confirmed that Houthi terrorist militia's continuation of deepening humanitarian suffering of Yemeni people through playing with black markets of fuel and hindering works of banks and financial institutions through creating parallel economy by banning national bank notes in their areas.

In the Security Council public session on Monday, the government added in its release delivered by Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah al-Sa'adi that the most dangerous thing is that the militia's insistence on rejecting peace and pushing towards more violation and returning to the conflict through its terrorist escalation and targeting civilians and Yemeni people's economic institutions.

This terrorist escalation comes despite government's concessions and flexibility- in implementation to directives of the Presidential Leadership Council- to alleviate humanitarian suffering through facilitating commercial flights from and into Sana'a Airport and give access to fuel ships to Hodeida Port amid Houthi militia's rejection of renewing the truce to alleviate suffering of Yemeni people, added al-Sa'adi.

"The government of my country has addressed the presidency of the council during the past months on Houthi militia's blatant violations and its terrorist attacks on ports and economic establishments," he said.

While the government appreciates the unified voice of the council on denouncing Houthi militia's terrorist attack on October 21, 2022 in the council's release, the releases and denunciations are not enough and there must be more clear commitment towards peace in Yemen thorough using all means of pressure on the terrorist militia and the Iranian regime, which is supporting it, he emphasized.

Ambassador al-Sa'adi reconfirmed commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council to peace choice and support to UN for ending conflict and realizing sustainable peace on the bases of the three internationally-agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council Resolutions led by Resolution 2216.

He confirmed that the Security Council should find new rapprochement towards peace process in Yemen under Houthi militia's threat, procrastination and evasion as the currently-implemented approach only has helped Houthis to tighten their grip on necks of the Yemeni people and prolonged the war, as well as enabled the militia to hinder all efforts for realizing peace and deepening the humanitarian and economic crises.

He pointed out that all efforts of the SC will remain unattainable if the Iranian evil regime continues its interferences in Yemen's internal affaires as it will continue providing the terrorist militia with weapons to kill Yemeni people and endangering international security and peace.

Reminding of interception of a number of Iranian ships loaded with weapons to Houthi militia and fuel of rockets, he called upon the Security Council to shoulder its responsibility in protecting international peace and security and stop Iranian destructive behavior.

He emphasized the necessity of transforming from denouncing terrorist attacks committed by Houthi militia and making Yemen a threat-point to security of the region and the world into collective work to stop it through blacklisting the militia in the Security Council's terrorist list as a means to put pressure on the terrorist militia to surrender to peace track.

Ambassador al-Sa'adi called upon the international community to provide generous support to the Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen 2023 and to pressure the militia to stop its terrorist attacks, as well as allowing dealing with the national currency across Yemen.

He touched upon the situation of Safir Oil Tanker, which is posing dangerous threat to Yemen, the region and the world, confirming that if this file has not been addressed swiftly, the region and the world will wake up on environmental, humanitarian and economic disaster, in addition to hindering international navigation lines.
